We’ve compiled a list of answers to common queries in order to make your experience with us all the more pleasant.

Does Graduate Freedom take over my loans?

No, Graduate Freedom does not take over your loans. You are still responsible to pay back your Federal Student Loan(s), as stated in your promissory note that you signed when you first took out your Federal Student Loan(s) with the Department of Education.  Our service is only for the Preparation of your Federal Student Loan application(s). Clients may choose to complete their own documents based on the Federal Programs and are not obligated to use GF as a document preparation source.

I signed up for the forgiveness program; does that mean my loan balance will be reduced?

No, there are many different forgiveness programs for individuals, depending on their circumstances, none of which are subject to a reduction in the loan balance. Graduate Freedom does not facilitate the negotiation of a debt, the settlement of a debt or the altering of a debt and its services are only for the assistance and completion of Federal Student Loan Program Application Documents. GF will not pay your student loans for you or on your behalf.

Will my credit be affected?

Graduate Freedom is not a credit professional agency and cannot counsel you on your credit and how it might be affected. If you are concerned about your credit, please seek advice from a credit professional.

Is Graduate Freedom affiliated with the Department of Education?

No, we are a private professional service providing services to our clients for a fee charged after work has been complete. We are in no way affiliated or work with/for the Department of Education or any Federal Servicers.

Will the interest on my Federal Student Loans decrease?

In some cases this may be possible. However, this is determined by the Department of Education upon completion of a Consolidation application, and cannot be determined by Graduate Freedom.

Why are my payments different than what I was projected?

The projected payment amount that only an estimate, and is based upon the family size and the Adjusted Gross Income information that you provided. If you submit your proof of income and the income is different from what was initially stated, your payment projection may change. Your payments will vary and will ultimately be determined by your servicer, based upon the family size and income information submitted to them.

How can I update my contact information?

The quickest and most convenient way to update your contact information is through your portal. An alternative option would be to call or email us. We will gladly update any contact information with Graduate Freedom. This does not guarantee that your contact information will be updated with your Federal Student Loan Servicer or the Department of Education. However, we may be able to do this upon your request.

Why have I not received anything in the mail yet?

The Consolidation/Repayment Plan Request Documents can  take 30-90 days to be processed by the Department of Education. Sometimes this can be the reason for delayed correspondence. Most of our clients will receive correspondence from the Department of Education by U. S. Postal Mail. However, some will also receive correspondence by electronic mail depending on how you initially requested to receive updates when you first took out your Federal Student Loan(s).  Please note, if opted for electronic mail, sometimes the correspondence will be sent to a spam or junk inbox.
